Her voice is rich and powerful, yet also nuanced with the influences of the many different genres of music in which she specialises.' - Libby Hammer, Premier Jazz Singer & Bandleader

“Gioi is the most passionate and skillful music teacher I know. As now we are at different part of the world, my son missed his piano teacher, and I missed a friend and her delicious tea collection!” - Elisabeth, mother, business owner, university lecturer

'Gioi is a wonderful teacher and I had the pleasure of being her student for 4 years! She truly cares for her students and has a genuine interest in their progress as a musician and well-being as a person. Her warm, kind-hearted nature made every lesson enjoyable for me and her years of experience allowed her to cater lessons to my exact needs and made me reach the goals I set for myself.' - Anda, photographer, university student

'Gioi is passionate about music and works well with people. She MD'd and directed 'The Sound of Music' production with my drama group. She always does her absolutely all with every performance. She is devoted and determined even during rehearsals. Gioi has a lovely voice and incredible creative talent and which she utilizes in her teaching. I enjoyed her enthusiasm and getting everyone motivated in the choir it was a wonderful experience!' ~ Sarah, Singer & Actress

'Gioi taught my daughter Muscial Theatre singing for several years and in that time she proved to be an excellent role model. She was patient, kind but firm and always encouraged my daughter to strive to do her best. My daugher's singing voice developed and improved enourmously in that time and so did her confidence. Gioi proved that with the right attitude and a willingness to work hard, amazing things are possible. I never though my daughter would stand up in front of a crowd and sing on her own, but that is precisely what she achieved.' - Jocelyn, Teacher & mother.

Musical Theatre Singing Lessons

After her studies in London, Gioi moved to Perth and taught acting at Barking Gecko Theatre Company to all ages. She incorporates this knowledge into teaching Musical Theatre Singing.

Gioi regularly attends singing pedagogy workshops both in Perth and interstate. In 2019 she attended Vocal Process pedagogy training in Melbourne led by Musical Theatre specialists from the UK. She is a full member of ANATS and NATS and is attending the online U.S. conference in 2020.

Experienced in leading Musical Theatre workshops at tertiary level, her students participate in Acting Through Song Masterclasses most terms. This provides fine tuning for a wide variety of performance opportunities available to students throughout the year.

PapillonMusic singing students prepare for AMEB MT Singing exams, many have gone on to major in voice at university. An exciting array of ensemble projects cater to a range of ages and abilities. Students who have prepaid for the full term can request up to five accompaniment recordings per term, or three recordings for half term.

"Gioi is a dedicated, skilled and energetic teacher that helped me reach my goal of completing 8th grade piano AMEB! I had a variety of performance opportunities that really gave me confidence for playing in front of others and for exam preparation. She is professional, kind, and provided a well rounded program to meet my goals, and challenge me as well." - Dr Suzanne McDonald, Chemist, Water Treatment Technologist.

"Thanks to Gioi I achieved my 8th grade AMEB in about 5 years, from being an 11 year old beginner. My previous teacher turned me off the keys but Gioi was a brilliant teacher who exposed me to many styles of music while allowing me to follow my preferences and compassionately improving my technique. It was inspiring to be taught by such a personally talented and skilled musician with such a positive and motivating energy towards teaching. Gioi also organised many recitals for us students to practice performance. I couldn't recommend a better piano teacher." - Catriona Thomson, University Student

"I first met Gioi in 2008, when she was in the position of Vocal Coach for The Perth Young Women's Chorale. I remember being blown away by her full body approach to singing - a school of thought I had not yet encountered. I also remember being enamoured with her positive and infectious spirit, and with the fact that she had undertaken tertiary studies in acting and music, as two seperate disciplines. I crossed paths again with Gioi during my Classical Voice studies at WAAPA, where she accompanied my end of semester practical examinations. Gioi was a pleasure to work with - forever inquisitive, encouraging, and complementary to my work as a young singer!" - Eimear Foley, WAAPA Graduate, New York University Master’s of Musical Theatre graduate (2018), Professional Singer Crossover Artist

‘My lessons with Gioi have been pivotal in my success as a performer. With her tutelage, I have been able to develop my musical theatre voice in leaps and bounds. Without her help, I wouldn’t have attained my Advanced Diploma in Musical Theatre from APAN Academy nor would I have been able to land my debut role as the Wicked Witch of the West in HAMA’s 2019 production of The Wizard of Oz. Gioi also provides excellent performance opportunities for her students through showcases and the occasional restaurant performance. Her devotion to her students and her craft is astounding and I’m forever grateful for the time I spent learning from her.’ – Jessica Ashleigh, actor, singer, performer, Graduate of APAN Academy.

Sing for joy, play from your heart!
